Vorda's Summer Fun
Vorda's Summer Fun
It’s been a busy and fun summer term for the children at Vorda. First there was the Japanese day, where some Japanese ladies came for the morning and taught the children origami and some traditional Japanese games. The children had a great morning, dressing up in kimonos and learning about a different culture.
Later in the term there was the sunflower growing competition. The children planted the seeds with their teachers at pre-school and then took them home to watch them grow. The winner was Beth who had the tallest sunflower. Well done Beth!
The summer trip was to the Cotswold Wildlife Park where the children had a fantastic time riding on the train, playing in the huge adventure play area and seeing all the different animals.
Lastly there was the end of year leavers party with fun games and a visit from a Magician, who had the children in stiches. The afternoon culminated with the Leaver’s Assembly, where the children acted out the ‘Brown Bear’ story book with their masks and saying their lines with proud parents watching.
And of course the summer term also saw Vorda hold an EGM (Extraordinary General Meeting) where it was unanimously voted that the management of the pre-school should pass to the Governors of Eastrop Infants. The Committee believe this is the best option to secure the long-term future of the pre-school and are working closely with the governors to make it happen. It is taking a little longer than expected to tick all the legal boxes, but progress is being made and it is expected that Vorda can be formally transferred to the school in the near future.
There are still a few places in both our 2 year and 3/4yr playrooms this September so please feel free to pop in and visit anytime.

Sponsored Bubble Pop
The Children in the Tigger and Piglet Rooms at Vorda Pre-school have had great fun taking part in our Sponsored Bubble Pop. Each child had 5 minutes to pop as many bubbles as they could before their friends did! The event was a really enjoyable way to fundraise and the children who raised the most money won a small prize. Manager Linda Cowley says, “We have been bowled over with the generosity of the family and friends that have supported this event. The money is still coming in, but we have already raised over £400! So we are looking in to getting some substantial play equipment for the children.”
If you are looking for a pre-school place in September this year, Vorda is holding an open week 8th - 12th May. Come in and look around, sit in on a session and play in our big garden. Please call us to arrange your visit on 763668.
