At preschool your child will learn through different, fun play activities and experiences. We have messy play resources out on each session which are crucial to young children’s sensory development. Whilst we do provide aprons for the children to wear, we would ask that you send your child in suitable clothing that doesn’t matter if it gets a bit messy! We would also like to remind you to put your child’s name in jumpers and T shirts etc. Your child may get wet during water play and it does help us to return clothing to the right child if it has a name on it.
We do have spare clothes for emergencies, but supplies are limited...
Warning from Doctors about Grapes
Doctors are strongly advising that parents cut grapes in quarters as they are a real potential choking hazard. Please read the document for more information.
How safe are those gifts?
Many children will receive presents of toys containing sensors, microphones, data storage and other multi-media capabilities. These gadgets have the potential to put the privacy and safety of children at risk.
For more information and advice, you can click here to read an article from the Information Commissioners office, here for a safety alert from Which? magazine or here for support with teaching your children about online safety from the London Grid for Learning.

Order Your Pre-school Uniform
Uniform is not a requirement at Vorda Pre-school but some parents find that having a uniform can make it so much easier in the mornings. The little ones can be like the big ones at school, and you don't need to worry about paint going on the brand new t-shirts you've just bought them!

Working with you
We work very closely with parents to ensure that children settle well and are happy within the preschool setting at all times.
If you feel that your child needs you to be present for the first few sessions, we are very happy to have you with us. That initial break can always be challenging for both the child and the parent. But we do find that once they know their environment, children can quickly be distracted and the tears stop. Our staff are very experienced and have been working in a pre-school or nursery setting for many years. Currently all our staff are parents themselves and understand the concerns parents may have at leaving their children for the first time, and are very skilled at caring and nurturing children.
If at any time you have any concerns about your child or any member of staff, please talk to the Manager Linda Cowley. All meetings will be confidential and any concern, no matter how small, will be taken seriously.
